The Funding We Need: African Cities at the Forefront of the Climate Finance Agenda

This action session focuses on local financing to shape the cities we want. To do this, we need a clearer understanding of what forms of finance are appropriate on the African continent and align that with African urban and regional contexts. By harnessing ICLEI Africa’s extensive networks and expertise, this session seeks to prioritise African cities at the heart of the climate finance agenda across project pipelines. This will be accomplished by making an attractive case for investment in African cities; presenting inspiring project concepts and strategic approaches for cities in transition; accelerating local cooperation to implement such projects; and reflecting on lessons from successful projects. Join us to co-create sustainable development finance priorities and opportunities within the context of local governance in Africa.
