Imaginative action to create sustainable African cities

The first RISE Africa provocation is a Keynote Address by Edgar Pieterse, Director of the African Centre for Cities, who contextualises African urbanisation during this global pandemic, in relation to the reinvigoration of social justice movements through #blacklivesmatter, and in reference to African Union Agenda 2063. He reminds us that looking to the past for inspiration is as important as looking to the future, before offering key principles and a few examples for reshaping our cities.
