On August 21, 2024, Romanian police raided the home of internet personality Andrew Tate as part of a new investigation into human trafficking and money laundering. Tate, his brother Tristan, and two Romanian women currently face charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to exploit women. All four have denied these allegations. Romania’s DIICOT conducted four searches across Ilfov county and Bucharest, focusing on organized crime, trafficking minors, and money laundering. Despite a July court ruling granting Tate free movement in the EU while awaiting trial, these new allegations could further complicate his legal battle. Tate’s representatives have stated that the allegations are not fully clarified, but suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering are at the core of this latest probe.
